The hazel and willow coppices in Cathedral field are ready to be harvested.
A local contractor, Adam Boulton, will be coming in to do the work during the first two weeks of November so there will be tree felling in Cathedral field. The area will be clearly marked but please be extra careful, especially with dogs!
Part of each bed will be completely felled, but it will regrow quickly. All the areas of monoculture will be cut in sections over the next four years, before being left to grow so that they are ready for harvesting again when the time comes.
If you want to know more about the coppicing, you can contact the Friends group through email or social media, or stop on the meadow and have a chat with Adam or any of the conservation volunteers.
