Longrun Meadow already provides a great space for people as well as wildlife, and at the same time performs an important function as a storage area for water when the Tone can’t cope with the amount of rainfall it is carrying. This spring, we are looking at improving this even further by undertaking works on the drain running from Castle School car park into the Tone, as part of the European-funded SPONGE 2020 project. After 5 years, at last the 3rd bridge on Longrun Meadow has been installed it will now link to the park and ride on Silk Mills. The contractors even managed to repair the path on the corners that was washed away in recent floods. Read More
The Friends have been sowing wildflower seed to help diversity the plants in Cathedral Field. The seed will germinate into wildflowers that will bring colour and diversity to what was once just a grass field. Read More
