New Year Plant Hunt

By December 17, 2018April 7th, 2019Community

Join us on New Year’s Day for a botanical treasure hunt suitable for all ages and levels of expertise.

We’ll be searching for plants in flower on the meadow to add to the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland’s New Year Plant Hunt data. Plant hunters all over the country will add their finds, helping the BSBI to keep track of how plants are responding to changes in autumn and winter weather.

Meet at the Oak Barn at 10.30am – we can record for up to 3 hours. (If you want to find us later than that you’re welcome to.)

Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.
You may want to bring a plant ID book, a hand lens, a hot drink or all three.

During last year’s count we found 12 species in flower but also spotted an otter, butterfly eggs and a pair of stonechats along the way.
