Some of the conservation volunteers have recently taken on a new challenge.

Andi Rickard (many time national women’s champion) from the Somerset Scythe School came to teach us all about scythes, how to use them safely and how to maintain them.

Seven volunteers (and one SWT extra) cut the grass around the willow cathedral while learning to scythe safely and efficiently.

We hope to use these new skills to keep the area and paths around the willow cathedral short during the summer, and to better maintain the field margins for the benefit of wildlife.
